Ingredients

  • High Protein Ranch:
  • 8 Oz Cottage Cheese

  • 3 Tablespoons Ranch Powder (or 1 packet)

  • Almond Milk (optional)

  • Buffalo Dip:
  • 1 Cup Ranch (we like to use the high protein ranch above for the extra health benefits, but regular ranch is fine)

  • 8 Oz Cream Cheese

  • 2 Cups Shredded Cheese (*See Note 1)

  • 1/4 Cup Frank’s Red Hot Sauce

  • 1 1/2 Lb Cooked Chicken (*See Note 2)

Directions

  • For the High Protein Ranch:
  • Blend cottage cheese until smooth.
  • Pour into bowl and stir in ranch powder.
  • Allow ranch to sit for a few minutes to thicken.
  • If ranch is too thick, you can thin it out with almond milk or another kind of milk. This step may not be necessary.
  • For Buffalo Chicken Dip:
  • In a mixing bowl, add ranch, cream cheese, shredded cheese, and Frank’s. Use a mixer to mix until well blended.
  • Add chicken. Lightly mix or stir until chicken is blended into the mixture.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until mixture is heated thru and bubbly.
  • Enjoy hot on a wrap or with your favorite chips or crackers!

Notes

  • Use your favorite cheese; we used a mixture of sharp cheddar and calico cheese. I like to use the blocks of cheese and shred it myself to avoid starch additives found in many pre-shredded cheeses.
  • For the chicken, you can use canned chicken, a rotisserie chicken, or boiled or instant pot chicken. As long as it’s 1 1/2 pounds of cooked chicken, you can use whatever you prefer.

High Protein Ranch

You can use regular ranch in this recipe, but we like to make high protein ranch to mix in. Our bodies need protein to build muscle. If you’re trying to gain muscle tone or build muscle, eating more protein is super important. Simply put, our bodies need the necessary building blocks to build and repair muscles.

Protein can also help to anchor your meal. If you’re eating carbs or something high in sugar, protein can be the perfect balance. It can help your body feel better even after you’ve eaten those carbs. Whereas, without protein, your sugar levels can rise and drop in a much more dramatic way. Eating more protein doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll start gaining weight. Instead, it will help your body to handle other foods better as well as help you achieve toned muscles and a good body shape.

If you’re working out a lot and not getting in enough protein, your body isn’t able to build those muscles back after they’re getting torn down in the workout. Protein helps you see the results you’re looking for while feeling even better during recovery.

If you don’t like cottage cheese, you may be surprised that I can’t even taste it in this recipe. My husband loves cottage cheese, but I’m not a big fan. Because we’re blending the cream cheese up, it’s changing the texture completely, and the buffalo flavors masks the bitter cottage cheese taste. I believe High Protein Buffalo Dip is the perfect way to sneak in a little extra protein without even realizing it!

As long as you have cooked chicken, this is a matter of convenience and what you have on hand. I’ve used canned chicken; a rotisserie chicken is also quick and easy. If you would rather use chicken breasts, you can boil them on the stove for about 30 minutes or until cooked thru. You can also cook chicken in the Instant Pot. Really, your personal preference is the most important factor, especially if one kind of chicken is cheaper or you’re short on time.

Anyone can eat healthy for a day. Having things like Buffalo Chicken Dip can help you eat healthy in a way that is sustainable.
